Vahid Ownjazayeri provides the executive leadership for implementing strategic growth initiatives in infrastructure and program management. For more than 20 years Vahid has been recognized as a global leader in infrastructure project development in the United States, Middle East, Canada, Asia, and the Caribbean. His new role provides GISI with the opportunity to utilize this global experience to develop new initiatives designed to advance the Company’s growth strategies.
After his early education abroad, Vahid completed his advanced studies in the United States, thus enabling him to bring a global approach to GISI’s civil infrastructure development initiatives. He believes that a combination of local presence, technical expertise and global reach assures clients the seamless planning and execution of even the most complex projects.
Vahid continues his distinguished career at GISI having provided executive leadership in a number of capacities at AECOM including President of Global Infrastructure, Chief Growth and Strategy Officer, Chief Executive for Emergency Response and Recovery where his background and skills enabled him to build a division with annual revenue in excess of half a billion dollars. Before joining AECOM, Vahid was President of the Commercial, State and Local division of the Shaw Group, now part of McDermott.
Vahid received an MS and BS in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for University of Rhode Island as well as The Board of Governors for Bradley Hospital. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for Wediko Children Services, Advisory Board of Northeastern University Civil Engineering School, and was also Chair of the metro chapter of the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers.
